about

You think you know a place, but our cities are built on an array of stories and experiences. Six distinct people share insights into their lives around a world-famous city, known for it’s ‘town and gown’ divide!

A Fenland Symphony is a musical composition intertwining interviews and music to tell a unique story of life in this famous Fenland City. The piece paints a unique sonic picture of Cambridge, allowing us to digest the fragments of life we hear around us in the form of a musical composition.
Produced and composed by Cambridge musician Chris Bradbury, as part of New Creatives, a talent development scheme supported by Arts Council England and BBC Arts, delivered in the South East by Screen South.

A dynamic musical composition, intertwining interviews, sound effects and an array of acoustic instruments. Developing from one genre to another, the music reflects the energy of the speech. Although conceptual to location, this musical composition explores themes
and narratives that exist all over modern Britain. All instruments and sounds are recorded in Cambridgeshire, making a unique symphonic journey from the south of the Fens.

On 4th Jan 2021 A Fenland Symphony was broadcast on
BBC 6 Music Introducing Arts with Gemma Cairney.
